SPRYTNA®

An ultra-early-ripening variety of grain usage with enhanced drought resistance, lodging resistance, shedding resistance and resistance to diseases and pests, which can be used as a predecessor before winter wheat.

Originator - Plant Production Institute nd. a V.Ya. Yuryev of NAAS.

The year of registration in the Plant Variety Register for growing in Ukraine - 2013

Zones recommended for growing: forest-steppe and steppe.
Approbation characteristics. Variety –glauca. The plant is semi-compressed with thick central stem up to 75 cm, fluff is light-grey, flowers are white. Seeds are oval-spheroid, light-yellow, hilum is in the same colour as arillus, with eye. Mass of 1,000 seeds is 140-150 g.
Biological features. The sort belongs to the early-ripening group, the growing season length is 90-95 days. It shows high drought resistance, lodging resistance, shedding resistance, resistance to diseases and pests. It is well-adapted to machine harvest, can be used as a predecessor before winter wheat. The sort is grown for grain.
Economic features. In the competitive variety trial carried out by the Plant Production Institute nd. a V.Ya. Yuryev of NAAS (2007–2009) the yield capacity was 1.65 t/ha, which exceeded the standard Yug 30 by 0.35 t/ha. The potential yield capacity is 3.50–3.80 t/ha.
According to the results of 2-year trial the average yield capacity of the sort Sprytna depending on a natural and climatic zone varied from 1.95 t/ha in woodlands to 2.28 t/ha in forest-steppe. The surplus in the yield capacity over the standard was 15.7% and 17.9 % in forest-steppe and steppe, respectively. The maximum yield capacity was registered in 2010 in steppe zone at Kirovogradskaya State Variety Station – 3.65 t/ha, and in 2011 – in forest-steppe zone at Vinnitsky State Expertise Center – 3.50 t/ha. In the demonstration trail of BASF in Belgorodskaya region in 2011 the yield capacity was 3.15 t/ha.
Protein content in grain 38-40 %, oil content – 20-21 %.
