KVIN

Simple interline hybrid of oleic type.

Originator - Plant Production Institute nd. a V.Ya. Yuryev of NAAS.
It has been entered in the Plant Variety Register of Ukraine for growing in steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine since 2007, in the Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation since 2010 in the 5th region.

Approbation characteristics: plant height - 175 cm; convex calathid up to 20 cm in diameter; huskness – 24.5%; incrustation – 99.7%; mass of 1,000 seeds - up to 57 g; oil content in seeds - 49%.

Biological features: ripeness group – middle-early, growing season – 107 days. Lodging resistance- high. Shedding resistance - high. Downy mildew resistance - high. Broomrape resistance - high. Sufficiently drought-resistant and root rot resistant.

Economic features: The hybrid crop potential – 4.4 t/ha. The hybrid contains oil of oleic type. Oleic acid glyceride content in oil – up to 86.0% of the total acid content.
Peculiarities of cultivation technology: recommended density – 55,000 plants per hectare. To provide high oleic acid content it is necessary to grow this hybrid at the distance of 1,500 m from hybrids of linoleic type. Preparation of soil and seeds for sowing is conventional.

Peculiarities of seed industry: in the hybridization areas the parent line seeds are sown in two phases: the female parent is sown after appearance of cotyledons of the pollen fertility restorer. The agrotechnology of the hybrid seed growing is conventional. The yield capacity of the female parent line is up to 1.7 t/ha. The yield of certified seeds is 65%.
